Non-genuine part warning on iPhone screens

“We couldn’t verify that this iPhone has a genuine Apple display” or “” is a notification that most technicians will recognize.

If you have replaced your iPhone screen with a replacement one, you may have encountered the “Screen not genuine” warning message.

We explain how you can easily remove this warning in a few steps. This guide is reflected on iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12 Mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13 Mini, 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max.

In this case, we will work with In-Cell LDCs. (OEM quality, can restore the true tone and change the viewer IC).

  • Removing the IC from the original LCD
    • First, we have to remove the glue with a QianLi spatula or similar tool. The recommended temperature is 180ºC
    • Then we remove the IC with tweezers.

  • Clean the IC (placed on a PCB/IC solder holder)

    • After removing the epoxy with a heat gun (300 °C) and a QianLi spatula and having cleaned it, we will proceed to reballing.

    • Apply a little solder paste at a low temperature (138 °C).

    • We give heat to form the solder balls with a hot air gun (280 °C).

    • Now, let’s install the original CI on the new screen.

    • Apply some flow and put the original CI. Never use more than 260-280 °C to solder the IC to the new display.

    • Then, we have to install and test the new screen and of course, check the touch.

After testing we managed to have: True Tone and no non-genuine screen warnings!
